Just as this new collection’s vibe is once again designed around the rhythms of the dance and carries Soul II Soul’s original ideals of funk, fun and harmony.

And that was a lot to live up to.

The first clothing range came from the Soul II Soul sound system, which introduced the mainstream to the blues dance and brought together different tribes around the world under one melodious banner. The Funki Dred clothing designs literally took this to the street, to become such a powerful expression of the whole Soul II Soul ethos they immediately established themselves as the fashion statement of the 1990s. Today’s collection reflects that same spirit, providing a focal point for people to come together as one.

As Jazzie himself puts it:

"Soul II Soul was always as much of a lifestyle statement as it was a musical movement or a sound system. Our aim was to put some of the harmony into life with the philosophy of a happy face, a thumping bass for a loving race, and the clothing was coming from the same place as the music, allowing people to identify with these ideals 24/7.
